Haweni Adugna is a committed faculty member at Addis Ababa University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, where she specializes in maternal and reproductive health. As a doctorate candidate and experienced educator, she has over a decade of expertise in curriculum development, evidence-based healthcare education, and professional training for midwives and healthcare providers. Her academic work is focused on improving maternal health outcomes through rigorous research, systematic review approaches, and innovative teaching practices. She has led and contributed to the development and delivery of advanced-level courses and training manuals. Her professional contributions extend beyond the classroom. Haweni has played a key role in national efforts to strengthen midwifery education and maternal health systems through active participation in the Ethiopian Midwives Association, where she has supported professional development initiatives, capacity-building programs, and advocacy for improved maternal health services. As a board member, she is committed to improving midwifery education, promoting evidence-based practice, and encouraging collaboration between academic institutions and national health systems. Her goal is to expand midwives’ roles as major contributors to maternal health policy and decision making. She hopes to increase maternal care quality, accessibility, and cultural relevance by raising midwives’ voices in policy forums and incorporating their frontline experiences into national health planning. Her goal involves developing collaborative networks among midwives, educators, researchers, and politicians to ensure that maternal health services are equitable and responsive to emerging public health concerns.
