Taklu Marama Mokonnon is an Assistant Professor of Midwifery Education at Wolaita Sodo University in Ethiopia. He has worked in academics, clinical setting, and leadership roles for more than 15 years. He has a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Hawassa University, and a Master of Science in Midwifery Education from Mekelle University.
Over half of Taklu’s career was spent in leadership positions, such as Head of the Midwifery Department and Dean of the Registrar and Alumni Directorate. From professional perspectives, he has served in important capacities as president of the South Ethiopia Region Chapter and chairman of the National Midwifery Education Standing Committee. He is a life member of the Ethiopian Midwifery Association.
He has dedicated his career to making the midwifery profession stronger and improving the health of mothers and babies. Taklu Marama Mokonnon is a licensed Chief Midwifery Professional Specialist.
Having taught and supervised undergraduate and graduate students, as well as offering academic advising and thesis supervision, he is also a committed educator. He also has contributed to academic advancement and institutional governance at Wolaita Sodo University by serving on the Staff Disciplinary Committee and the Research and Development Committee.
Taklu’s influence on maternal and newborn health services is further enhanced by his certification, such Higher diploma program (a pedagogy,) respectful and compassionate care, emergency obstetric and neonatal care, instructional design, preceptorship and others. He also more than a decade experience of creating and revising curricula and has proven to be very dedicated to academic success.
