Strengthening Maternity waiting Homes in Metekel Zone

On January 2, 2023, the Ethiopian Midwives Association in collaboration with UNFPA donated 800,000 birr worth of materials like beds with mattresses, laundry machines, televisions, water tanks, Dinning tables, and other 31 materials to Mambuk and Dibate maternity waiting homes at Metekel Zone, Benishangul Gumuz region.

Mr. Fekadu Regasa, the Head of the Benishangul Gumuz Regional Health Bureau stated at the event that, maternity waiting homes are built in the health center to increase access to quality care during childbirth. Mr. Fekadu Regasa thank the Ethiopian Midwives Association and UNFPA for their valuable contribution.

In addition, Mr. Takele Yeshwas, a Ministry of Health representative, Mr. Fekadu Mazengia EMwA Executive Director, Dr. Beyeberu Asefa, a UNFPA representative, Metekel zone Deputy head, Women, Children, and Youth affair of Metekel zone, and Woreda health department head and MCH case team leaders, pregnant women, and community leaders participated in this essential Hanovering event.
