Description of the Project

Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) in collaboration with Health[e]Foundation, Addis Ababa University, Debre-birhan and Gonder university and  Minilik HSC implementing the project on Midwife students as advocates for SRHR in the university to empower women to enter and stay in the educational system using blended e-learning and outreach to adolescents.

The project will strengthen the university’s SRHR curriculum development and EMwA’s position to support the educational system to deliver competent, gender-sensitive and entrepreneurial midwifery graduates. Health[e]Foundation/Global Health department will increase their global impact and use this project as showcase to be implemented in other countries. Based on previous activities, the ownership is safeguarded by the existing collaboration between the partner institutions. EMwA has a lead role in the implementation of project activities. The embedding of digital tools in the university curriculum will shift ownership to Ethiopian collaborators even more.

Outcome(s) to be achieved at project level

  • TVET/HE organization’s perform better their core tasks, firmly embedded in their environment (in line with country / regional specific labour market needs & aiming at inclusiveness).

The following proposed outputs will contribute directly to achieving the project outcomes:

  • Output 1: Improved midwifery curriculum using e-learning modules
  • Output 2: SRHR education activities for fellow-students of midwifery students and adolescents in the community developed and conducted
  • Output 3: A mentorship program is developed and the gender office team is strengthened
  • Output 4: The skills and knowledge of EMwA and university staff are enhanced with didactical skills, gender sensitivity and use of digital tools
  • Output 5: Students and institutions of partners and collaborators are linked.
  • Output 6: Survey on students satisfaction is embedded in university policy
